About Us

Ramaswamy graduated in Electronics Engineering from the PSG College of Technology in 1973. During college, he was involved in other activities like debating, quiz and writing besides sports.

He interned in the summer briefly with an experimental lab before joining BPL in 1973. During his stint of 5 years, serving in all departments like research, production sales and finally management, he honed his skills with a view to work independently. He distinguished himself with rapid promotions all the way.

He understood the functioning of various departments and the necessary inter-action with all government departments. He had successfully led a team in all efforts in pushing forward BPL’s agenda to grow as per the focus of the company.

Starting his own unit for the manufacture of analog panel meters in 1978 was an epochal time, where he could put into practice what he had absorbed during his service. He faced failures for almost two years due to the beaurocratic system of working, during the late 70’s. Once he got the import license problem solved, he was up and going. This was probably his most interesting, worthwhile and important time, when he realized the heartbreaks in starting a small-scale industry in Bangalore. Not only was it a time to face government hurdles, but, also take charge of development, production sales and most importantly banking. In those days all small-scale companies were dependent on big companies for their sales to such an extent that, they had to give credit up to 90 days.

In many cases this killed the industry. The quality of products i.e. was so good that, customers were ready to pay against delivery and in some cases advance some payment. The highpoint was the severe tests two Japanese companies subjected them to, before approving the products, not merely as a vendor but, as part of a larger manufacturing family. They also organized a trip to Japan for him to study the Japanese way of thinking and working, which was priceless knowledge in those days. The feather in the cap was the defense clearance for the products, which very few companies obtain.

A severe auto accident put paid to all dreams of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse albeit of niche products. While recovering in his hospital bed, when he pondered over his future course of action, it became clear that the best solution was to do, what you really like to do best. As he was already a voracious reader and writer in his spare time, writing became the buzzword for him. Due to good connections and networking, freelance assignments came easily and started him on the path to full-time writing.

He also did a course in technical writing to understand the world of documentation for companies. With his wide interests on different subjects, it became easy to write on politics, sports, travel besides documentation for companies. During the last two years the focus shifted slightly to writing for companies for their future expansion involving a lot of research, the fields covered being real estate, servicing companies in coal and gas, plastic moulding, articles on mobile phones, gadgets and computers.
